On the morning of August 12, 2024, the opening ceremony of the Summer School for Future Power and Energy (FPES), Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics (EEA), Tsinghua University, was successfully held in Room 3-503 of the West Main Building at Tsinghua University. This summer school is organized by EEA, aiming to respond to the urgent global demand for new power systems and innovative energy solutions. Through intensive coursework, technical visits, and experiences of Chinese culture, it provides an in-depth discussion platform for international scholars.

Hosted by Zhang Ning

Associate Professor Zhang Ning from EEA served as the host for the opening ceremony. He warmly welcomed 20 students from 15 different universities across 12 countries and introduced the specific itinerary of the summer school. The event includes 9 cutting-edge courses in the field of new power systems, 2 Chinese cultural experience classes, and 7 technical visits, making the schedule diverse and rich.

Students Introduce Themselves

At Zhang Ning’s suggestion, the participating students introduced themselves, expressing their expectations for studying at Tsinghua University and experiencing Chinese culture.

Welcome Speech by Kang Chongqing

Kang Chongqing, Dean of EEA at Tsinghua University, delivered a welcome speech. He emphasized that the future of power and energy systems is crucial for global sustainable development and progress. He noted that students' innovative thinking will play a key role in shaping the future of increasingly complex energy systems that integrate cutting-edge technologies. Kang Chongqing encouraged students to fully engage in this experience, ask questions, challenge existing concepts, expand their thinking boundaries, and drive genuine transformation in the energy sector. The future of energy systems lies in the hands of students, and their innovative thinking and commitment to sustainable solutions will be the driving force behind the next generation of power systems. He expressed gratitude to all course instructors and the teaching assistant team, wishing students a productive and enjoyable experience at the summer school.

In a vibrant academic atmosphere, EEA welcomed the 14-day Future Power and Energy Summer School (FPES). Through a series of carefully designed lectures, seminars, and field trips, it promotes the exchange of knowledge and the collision of ideas. Students will have the opportunity to engage with the latest research findings, explore cutting-edge issues in the field of power and energy, and broaden their horizons in a cross-cultural environment. As the global energy structure transforms and sustainable development goals advance, the importance of international cooperation in electrical engineering education becomes increasingly prominent. By organizing activities such as international summer schools, EEA is actively building a global educational cooperation network, providing students with an international learning platform and contributing to the development of the global energy sector.
