Speaker 1: Professor EEA Xie Xiaorong
Topic of Report: Oscillation of Power System
Summary: The power system is one of the most complicated man-made systems. It mainly relies on 50/60Hz power frequency oscillation to transmit electric energy. However, its internal coupling interaction of "machine-electricity-magnetism-control" will lead to variable non-power frequency oscillation, which constitutes an important aspect of system stability. The report will briefly review the development of prevention and control technologies for power system low frequency oscillation, turbine unit subsynchronous oscillation and wind power subsynchronous/supersynchronous oscillation, and the innovative work of professor Xie xiaorong's research group in related fields, and look forward to the challenges of broadband oscillation research under the background of new generation power system "double high" (high proportion renewable energy and high proportion power electronic equipment).
Brief introduction of professor Xie xiaorong: professor Xie xiaorong, professor EEA, doctoral supervisor, director of flexible power transmission and distribution system research institute. He received a doctor's degree in engineering from Tsinghua University in 2001. Mainly engaged in power system dynamic analysis and control, flexible transmission and distribution system and other aspects of research. He was selected into the Natural Fund Outstanding Youth Science Foundation and won the second prize for national scientific and technological progress, the first prize for technological invention by the Ministry of Education and the first prize for scientific and technological progress in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. In 2018, he was elected as IET Fellow of the British Engineering and Technology Institute and appointed as editorial board of five international journals including IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery. In June 2018, he was employed as a long-term professor in Tsinghua University.

Topic of Report: High Efficiency Power and Clean Combustion
Summary: Energy saving of engines requires intensified combustion. Emission regulations also require oil products to be cleaned (alcohol ether is added). This greatly increases the temperature, pressure and fuel activity, making the combustion reach extreme conditions and becoming the biggest challenge for advanced engine research and development. In 2006, the team and Chery Automobile Company jointly undertook the national 863 project and discovered a new engine knocking phenomenon in internal combustion engines, which exceeded the normal knock amplitude by 1-2 orders of magnitude and was named "Super Knock". In 2013, a burning image was taken at the moment of super detonation, much like the Crab Nebula, which indicates the scientific similarity between the burning of fuel molecules and celestial bodies. In 2015, optical diagnosis proved that super Detonation is a supersonic combustion wave, revealing the mechanism of near-wall initiation induced by shock wave reflection, which provides experimental and theoretical basis for in-depth understanding of high-efficiency and clean internal combustion engine detonation combustion. These basic researches have also been successfully applied to the suppression and utilization of engine knock, providing key technical support for China's automobile engine power density to reach the advanced level of 100 kW/L. At the invitation of PECS, Energy and Combustion Science Progress, an overview paper on engine knock combustion was published in 2017. Common problems of knock combustion and solutions to super knock in vehicle, ship, air and sky engines were put forward, which is of guiding significance to the research and development of advanced engines and industrial safety production.

Introduction to Professor Wang Zhi:
Wang zhi, professor of automotive engineering department. He received a bachelor's degree from Hunan University in 1994, a master's degree from Huazhong University of Technology in 2002 and a doctor's degree from Tsinghua University in 2005. After graduation and stay in school, the doctor has been undertaking the first-line teaching of basic courses for undergraduates and degree courses for postgraduates, giving a lecture on the principles of automobile engines (a top-quality course in Tsinghua University). He was appointed Deputy Director of Chinese Society For Internal Combustion Engines Gasoline and Gas Engine Branch and Secretary General of Fuel and Lubricating Oil Branch. Professor Wang zhi devotes himself to the research and development of efficient and clean combustion and hybrid power. His team has published about 60 papers in important journals of energy and combustion science, including progress in energy and combustion science, Chinese science, combustion and flame, about 50 invention patents, and about 30 specially invited reports at international conferences. It has promoted the source innovation and international influence of China's internal combustion engine technology and won the first prize of technological invention in China's automobile industry and the first prize of natural science of the internal combustion engine society. In June 2018, he was employed as a long-term professor in Tsinghua University.
