Mehrdad Ghandhari is a professor of Electric Power Systems at Royal Institute of Technology(KTH), Sweden. He is the head of the research group “Power System Stability and Control”. His research interests include: 1) Modelling and Control of VSC-HVDC Transmissions; 2) The Dynamic Impact of Large Wind Farms on Power System Stability; 3) On the Dynamics and Statics of Power System Operation, Optimal Utilization of FACTS Devices and Management of Wind Power Uncertainty; 4) Large Scale Solar Power Integration in Distribution Grids: PV Modelling, Voltage Support and Aggregation Studies; 5) The impact of Multi-Terminal HVDC (MTDC) systems on bulk power system stability; 6) Design and control of DC transmission systems; 7) Design and operation of low-inertia power systems; 8) Dynamic security region assessment; 9) Real-Time Estimation of Power System Inertia; 10) Analysis of Sub-Synchronous Oscillations in Wind Power Plants.
