Topic: Optimizing dynamic control under uncertainty

Speaker: Professor Gerard Ledwich Queensland University of Technology

Time: 10:30-12:00, Nov 9 (Friday), 2018

Venue: 3-102, West Main-building

Abstract:

This seminar covers some recent results on the control of battery energy under uncertainty in loads or market conditions. The Model Predictive control is a powerful tool to determine a good control sequence but typically needs a good model of any disturbance. In this case we take the approach of maximizing the expected value of the costs. Care is required in the evaluation of expected costs which needs a model of the variance of the load predictions.
