Abstract: To maintain a desired accuracy in high speed machining, the reference motion commands must be smooth enough in order to avoid exciting the structural dynamics. Furthermore, the dimensional accuracy of the part is affected mainly by the tool positioning errors. Therefore, smooth trajectory generation and accurate motion control are the two essential components for achieving contouring accuracy in multi-axis machining. In this talk, novel trajectory optimization and error compensation algorithms developed for five-axis CNC machine tools will be presented.
