Prof. Leopoldo G. Franquelo currently is professor at the Electronics Engineering Department in Sevilla University since 1986 and a 1000 Talent Professor at the Department of Control Science and Engineering in Harbin Institute of Technology since 2016. His current research interests include modulation techniques for multilevel inverters and application to power electronic systems for renewable energy systems. He has participated in more than 100 Industrial and R&D projects and has published more than 300 papers, 76 of them in IEEE Journals. Dr. Franquelo is an IEEE Fellow since 2005 and an IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IES) Distinguished Lecturer since 2006. In the IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON INDUSTRIAL ELECTRONICS, he became an Associate Editor in 2007, Co-Editor-in-Chief in 2014, and the Editor-in-Chief since 2016. He was a Member-at-Large of the IES AdCom (2002–2003), Vice President for Conferences (2004–2007), and President Elect of the IES (2008–2009). He was the President of the IES (2010–2011) and is an IES AdCom Life member.
The lecture will have two parts. The first one will introduce significant advances in the field of modulation of dc/ac converters, concentrate and discuss the latest developments on this exciting technology, to provide insight on where the state-of-the-art stands today, and analyze the trends and challenges driving its future. The second part will introduce the organization details and procedures that are currently used in the Transactions on Industrial Electronics, review the most important characteristics that a good paper should have, and explain what is important from the point of view of the content, style and format of the paper. As advice for potential authors, a good number of useful hints to publish a successful paper will be shown.
