On October 16, Distinguished Professor Daniel M. Kammen from the University of California, Berkeley visited the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics at Tsinghua University for discussions and exchanges. The reception was hosted by Professor Kang Chongqing, Dean of EEA, and the meeting was chaired by Hu Zechun, deputy director of the Institute of Power Systems.

At the symposium

During the meeting, Zhong Haiwang, head of the graduate student working group, provided an overview of EEAs basic situation, covering aspects such as institutional structure, operational mechanisms, and talent cultivation. Qin Peixin from the Energy Internet Research Institute of Tsinghua University introduced the construction of the think tank center in EEA. Subsequently, both parties exchanged ideas on further deepening their cooperation in the future.

In recognition of Daniel M. Kammen’s achievements in the academic and educational fields, EEA awarded him the title of Distinguished Visiting Expert. In the award ceremony held after the symposium, Kang Chongqing presented Daniel M. Kammen with the certificate of Distinguished Visiting Expert.

Daniel M. Kammen is a professor at the University of California, Berkeley, director of the Renewable and Appropriate Energy Laboratory, and holds positions in the Goldman School of Public Policy and the Department of Nuclear Engineering. His research focuses on the system science of energy innovation, deployment, and impacts, providing low-carbon energy services from households to rural areas for national and regional needs. He is dedicated to work in energy policy, energy innovation, process research and development, and energy services.
