Recently, the 15th China Industry-University-Research (IUR) Cooperation Innovation Conference was grandly held at the Beijing Conference Center. The conference honored advanced units and individuals who made contributions in 2023 to the deep integration of industry, university, and research. Associate Researcher Wang Bin of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics (EEA), Tsinghua University was granted the “2023 China IUR Cooperation Innovation Award”, fully demonstrating the department’s achievements in high-quality IUR collaborative innovation.

The China Industry-University-Research Cooperation Innovation and Promotion Award, established with the support of the Ministry of Science and Technology and the National Office for Science and Technology Awards, is the highest honor in China’s IUR field. It recognizes outstanding units and individuals who have made significant contributions to the deep integration of government, industry, university, finance, services, and application, guiding various innovation entities to establish correct values, strengthen social responsibility, and create a healthy innovation ecosystem.

Wang Bin, an associate researcher and graduate advisor in EEA, Tsinghua University, is a senior member of IEEE and the deputy secretary-general of the Distribution Network and Distributed Energy Committee (preparatory) of the China Electrotechnical Society. He is also a distinguished expert in the Tianfu Emei Program (formerly Sichuan Province Thousand Talents Program), executive deputy director of the Distribution Network and New Energy Research Institute at the Sichuan Energy Internet Research Institute of Tsinghua University, and deputy director of the Tsinghua-Towngas Virtual Power Plant Research Center. Over the past 18 years, he has dedicated himself to the field of power system dispatch automation, consistently working on the frontline of IUR integration in system development and engineering applications. His major research achievements at various stages have all been practically promoted and applied. He has received the first prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award once and the first prize of provincial and ministerial science and technology awards ten times. He has also been recognized as an outstanding young talent by three national first-level societies: China Electrotechnical Society, China Energy Research Society, and China Renewable Energy Society.
